Nokia had this huge crane like the ones used by TV Networks to broadcast large shows but on top of it only this small Nokia N series phone capturing live video to several TV screens at the Nokia booth. To see this phone just look strait up to the ceiling. Also fascinating was this Steady Cam Men, he was all over Nokia booth capturing live video and we did have a tête a tête here, look closely, he is not steading any regular cam, he is steading a Nokia N series phone!

Nokia had a great booth to show their gear. I am convinced now that in the near future people will be taking more pictures with cell phones than with cameras. It's so easy and everyone has one in their pocket. Nokia went a bit further to make it easy for everyone to shoot pictures or make videos and then upload it all to the Internet on the spot. Forget about newspapers, everyone will be making the news from now on, live from around the globe to the Internet.

The Leaf booth is just a couple of meters away from ours, and they're putting up quite a show; they have a hypnotist who's doing hourly shows (the link with Leaf products eludes me), but they also have an almost continuous photoshoot to show off their studio equipment.

The friendly people at Megajet.de agreed to print two of my hyperbolic images, 1.5 x 1.5 meters each. You can just see the Windmills of Kinderdijk and my view of Rotterdam from the Euromast side by side on this monster.
The huge printer attracts quite a crowd each time it is printing, and fortunately my images did not disappoint. I was told the printer is brand new, and the first of its type in Europe.

I was looking for skin tones myself and found these at the Samsung booth.

Over at the Sigma booth, the new SD14 with a new Foveon chip is praised for its reproduction of skintones. And what better way to show that off than with models showing some skin?
Fortunately, my Fuji S2 also does a good job at the skintones, but the crowd was so packed that I could not find a place to hide, so by a rare exception I am in the shot myself.

All the way over at hall 6, which is a bit short of audience, there's a booth where you can get a beauty makeover and a good vanity shot taken. I guess this is where spouses that were dragged along to Photokina by their enthousiast other half end up...

At the Samsung booth, I found this miniature funfair. I guess it only makes sense, with cameras getting smaller and smaller, to also expect our subjects to get smaller ;-)
Great attention to detail though.

It feels strange shooting a panorama with my 3 year old S2 on a very cheap tripod between these highend Leaf studio cameras.
